The tenth-first edition of the Spain-Korea Forum was held in Seoul from 14 to 16 June 2017. The meeting served to to verify the good harmony between Korea and Spain, and to increase collaboration and relations between countries. Both delegations expressed their full support for the Forum as a stable platform for meeting and dialogue between civil society and representatives of the public administrations of the countries.
This dialogue forum held in Seoul continued ten previous editions which took place in Seoul (2003), Barcelona (2005), Jeju (2007), Seoul (2008), Cordoba (2010), Seoul (2012), Malaga (2013), Seoul (2014), and Malaga (2015).
The Korea Foundation and Casa Asia are the two diplomatic institutions which organized this Rostrum with the support of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Korea and Spain, and with the direct collaboration of their respective Embassies in Madrid and Seoul. For this 11th edition, the Korean Foundation co-organized this event with the ‘Hankuk University of Foreign Studies’, entity that had collaborated in some of the previous editions of the Rostrum and which, once again, did a wonderful job of coordination and support in order to ensure the success of the forum.
The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ildefonso Castro, and the ‘Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee’ from the National Assembly of Korea, Jae-kwon SHIM, led their respective delegations and participated in the inaugural session. The General Director for North America, Asia and Pacific, Fidel Sendagorta, also attended.
Besides several representatives of the Korea Foundation and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies’, the Korean delegation counted with other participants, among them, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lee International IP Law Office, Kyung Hee University, Korea National Diplomatic Academy, Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, Literature Translation Institute of Korea, IOM Migration Research & Training Center in Korea, Korean Society of Translators, Toji Cultural Foundation, Ajou University, Incheon University, Winter Olimpic Organizing Committee and International Sport Diplomacy Institute, Institute for the Cooperation of International Development (Korea University) and Korea Times.
The Spanish delegation was formed by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Embassy of Spain in Korea (through its political, cultural and commercial divisions), Cámara de Comercio de España, Diputación de Málaga, Turespaña, University of Málaga, Secretaria General Iberoamericana (SEGIB), Spanish Royal Academy of Language, Instituto Cervantes, Costa del Sol Tourism, Korean-Spanish Research Center, Xacobea Route, Center for Industrial and Technological Development (CDTI), University of Valladolid, Chamber of Commerce of Spain in Korea (Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Korea – ESCCK), delegation of ACCIÓ in Korea, and Casa Asia.
